G.O.O.D. Music rapper Big Sean was arrested and charged with sexual assault on Thursday, Aug. 4, following a concert at Artpark State Park in upstate New York.
According to the Buffalo News, the rapper born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson was charged with third degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and second degree unlawful imprisonment. Fellow Detroit artist, Willie Antonio Hansbro, was also arrested on the same charges.
The alleged incident was reported to police at 9:50 p.m. at the Lewiston festival’s Wiz Khalifa concert where Sean was also performing.
Detective Sgt. Brian Nisbet said that an unnamed female victim filed a sexual abuse complaint claiming that she’d been sexually assaulted during the concert, prompting the park’s police to investigate.
Both Sean and Hansbro were issued appearance tickets and released from jail on $500 bail.
Although police officials are mum about the incident, Sean’s lawyer, Scott E. Leemon, explained in a statement to Miss Info that both Sean and Hansbro are innocent.
“Last night, recording artists, Sean ‘Big Sean’ Anderson and Willie ‘Sayitainttone’ Hansbro were arrested and then immediately released by the New York State Police in connection with an allegation made by a female who was at their concert in Lewiston, New York. Both men were charged with misdemeanors and they both vehemently deny the allegations. I am confident, that after further investigation, both men will be vindicated,” said Leemon.
Sean and Hansbro are scheduled to appear in Niagara County Court on Sept. 6. –nicholas robinson
