Earlier this year, Kid Cudi announced that he was parting ways with his longtime business partners, Plain Pat and Emile, and starting up his own record label. And now the “Day ‘n’ Nite” rapper recently announced the name of his new label, Wicked Awesome Records, as well as announcing that his band “Wizard” would now go by the name “2 Be Continuum.”
The announcements were made last week (April 21) during a performance at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City.
“I needed something more original, something different, but it’s still wizardry at its finest,” explained Cudi about the band’s name change. “It’s science. Basically it’s just me and O-Dot, we’ve been really working hard on this project. I’m really excited for y’all to hear it too. It’s incredible!”
During the concert, Cudi also discussed his upcoming third album, Wizard, a rock album which he explains will have an “epic” sound, despite his novice guitar skills.
“I’ve only been playing guitar for nine months but the records have been coming out epic, epic, I’m really excited,” Cudi told the Roseland crowd. “We gonna have that first single for y’all soon. This summer.”
