Pop superstar Rihanna, can rest a little easier.

The singer was able to obtain a  restraining order against an overzealous fan. Steveland Barrow, stalker, was so over-the-top in his behavior that Rihanna reported to authorities that she feared for her safety. Judging from Barrow’s history, Rihanna had good reason to be worried.

The 31-year-old Barrow was arrested last month after breaking into a house near Rihanna’s mansion in Los Angeles. He apparently believed it was her home. According to a court filing, after he was taken into custody, he said that he had been invited by the singer and was trying to bring her some poetry. He had also stolen items from the home and slept in one of the beds, mistakenly believing it belonged to Rihanna.

The disturbing behavior caused, “Substantial emotional distress and concern for her personal safety,” Rihanna’s lawyer Miles Cooley told the court. Barrow must now stay at least 100 yards away from the star for three years. She had previously been granted a temporary restraining order against Barrow.

Stalkers are one of the harsh realities and the Barbadian singer has had her fair share. Rihanna is currently on the road performing in her Diamonds world tour.
