At the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival 2013, the Tasting Tents were among the main attractions. The tents featured an array of booths representing local and regional restaurants, bakeries and ice cream makers, as well as breweries, wineries and alcohol companies. The tents were set up on 11th Street, near the Loews Atlanta Hotel, which was the main venue for the festival.
Restaurants representing Atlanta and the Southeast served signature Southern cuisine like barbecue, fried chicken and low country seafood. One section of the tents was dedicated to whole pig dishes, which were curated by Atlanta chef Kevin Gillespie of Woodfire Grill. Ice cream was served from Atlanta’s own Honey Suckle Southern Inspired Gelato and Desserts and Frozen Pints Craft Ice Cream. People lined up to try BBQ Chocolates from Philly Ashley Chocolates.
As they entered the tasting tent area, attendees received a souvenir wine glass, which could be filled with everything from Wild Heaven beer and Ultimat Vodka Lemonade, to SmartWater and Coca-Cola. Seven bourbon companies offered samples of their beverages. Other offerings included Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine and Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon.
