The hip-hop community has made no qualms about their love for our nation’s president, Barack Obama. And now, the commander in chief has thrown some love in hip-hop’s direction, name-dropping rap star Young Jeezy during a recent event.
Jeezy’s presidential shout-out happened this past weekend at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, when President Obama worked Jeezy’s famous 2008 Obama tribute, “My President,” into a comedy routine about his plans for re-election.
“In my first term, I sang Al Green,” Obama said (video below). “In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy.”
“Michelle’s like, ‘Yeah!’ ” he added, garnering laughter from the crowd and a grin from the first lady. “I sing that to her sometimes.”
Once Jeezy got wind of the Obama’s name-drop, he quickly took to Twitter to return the favor.
“Shout-out to @BarackObama,” he tweeted. “You know they love the snowman in the white house.”
