WNBA stars Brittney Griner and her fiancée, Glory Johnson, were the picture-perfect example of a happy couple over the past year, but now it appears that their relationship may be hanging by a thread after reports revealed that Griner and Johnson were arrested this week after getting into a physical fight with each other.
According to TMZ, cops were called to Griner’s home in Phoenix on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. after being alerted to a domestic disturbance.
When police arrived at Griner’s home, they discovered that several people were at the house when the couple got into an argument with each other over. Griner told police that she threw a dog bowl at the wall and then she and Johnson ended up in a physical fight.
Johnson’s sister is the one who called police because witnesses “couldn’t get them pulled apart” and she didn’t want anyone being injured during the brawl.
When police examined Griner and Johnson, they observed that Griner suffered from several small cuts and a bite mark, while Johnson had a busted lip.
Police ended up arresting both women and booked them at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. They were later released on bail at around 4 a.m. on Thursday morning.
For now, the WNBA has no plans to investigate the incident, but it is unclear if Griner and Johnson will go through with their planned wedding next month or call it quits on their relationship. If they do remain together, we hope they both seek counseling to deal with their dysfunctional relationship before it becomes even more volatile.
