It came as no surprise that Mimi Faust and Nikko’s sex tape would be a huge success, especially with the news that pre-sales for the porn, which was released online yesterday, had surpassed the $400,000 mark based solely off of a 45-second preview. But although sales of the porn are skyrocketing, illegal downloads of the sex tape are also reaching new heights.
According to TMZ, Vivid Entertainment, the company that released the porn, claims that illegal downloads of the “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” couple’s sex tape have surpassed even that of Kim Kardashian and Ray J’s famous sex tape, making it the most pirated celebrity sex tape of all time.
Vivid claims that within nine hours of releasing the porn at midnight on April 21, they had to send out over 1,200 cease-and-desist letters to websites that were illegally hosting it.
Vivid CEO Steve Hirsh isn’t at all shy about protecting his new cash cow, sending a warning to all illegal downloaders, saying, “If you even try to illegally download this tape, we will come after you full force. We have three full-time attorneys prepared and ready to go.”
Despite the gargantuan amount of illegal downloaders, Vivid has seen a large increase in their subscribers list, telling TMZ that they’re now averaging 15 new joins a minute since the Faust and Nikko sex tape was released.
