A shocking video was uploaded to YouTube that shows LAPD officers gunning down a homeless man. The incident occurred on Sunday in the Los Angeles Skid Row area and is causing widespread outrage. According to witnesses, the incident started when the unidentified homeless man refused to take down his sidewalk tent. Local law stipulates that the homeless are only allowed to have a tent up between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The homeless man was known on the streets by the name Africa and was released from a mental institution within the last six months after a 10-year hospitalization, according to area residents.

In the video at least six officers are engaged in a violent physical struggle. At one point a police officer implies that the victim has his gun. Soon at least five shots rang out and Africa was killed. Soon afterward, a large crowd gathered and began to protest the police shooting. The LAPD is now asking for anyone with additional cellphone footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.
