Police have pieced together a theory as to why they believe former New England Patriots superstar tight end Aaron Hernandez killed his so-called friend Odin Lloyd. They believe that Lloyd knew secrets that could destroy Aaron’s relationship with his fiancée and the team.
New England law enforcement officials said there are several operating theories, but a prevailing one based on evidence they have already unearthed is that Lloyd “mouthed off” to Hernandez about “secrets” Hernandez had told him in the past.
Those secrets involved two main things: Hernandez’s involvement in drugs and his involvement in several violent incidents, particularly the drive-by double homicide in Boston in July of 2012.
Police said they do not believe Lloyd tried to extort Hernandez, according to tmz.com. The theory forwarded is that Hernandez went ballistic after Lloyd started throwing damaging information in Hernandez’s face that he thought would end his relationship with his fiancée, the New England Patriotts and the NFL.
