The wife of NFL star Antonio Cromartie believes that she was stopped by a police officer because she was a Black woman driving through a majority White town.
Terricka Cromartie was driving through Madison, New Jersey, on Sept. 25 when she was stopped by a White police officer. Antonio currently plays for the New York Jets and the team is headquartered close to Madison. According to the Census, over 13,700 Whites live in the town compared to only 500 Blacks.
Terricka filmed the encounter which showed the officer approaching her car and basically harassing her without reason. She did not commit any driving violations and her car’s tag was up to date.
When Terricka asked why she was stopped, the officer simply replied by saying, “I just wanted to know why you were in Madison.” Terricka was not given a ticket and she was eventually allowed to leave.
This incident is just another case of how taxpayers’ dollars are being wasted by ineffective police who do more harm than help. It also proves why more should be done to eliminate the racial biases that are allowed to exist in police departments.
Terricka posted the video on her Instagram, but she has since deleted the post. She has yet to reveal if she will file a complaint against the officer.
