After the Detroit Lions agreed to trade his rights to the Philadelphia Eagles, Jerome Harrison was preparing to meet his new coaches and teammates. However, Harrison needed to take a physical and be cleared by doctors. That physical may have saved his life.

Doctors discovered that Harrison had a brain tumor. Harrison will be forced to miss the remainder of the season, but doctors suggest that the tumor is non-life threatening and treatable.

The NFL forces players to take physicals before a trade can be cleared. If the Lions had not decided to trade Harrison, his life would have been in danger. He is currently undergoing treatment. – amir shaw
