Lafayette 148 Spring 2011 Runway Show at Neiman Marcus

Lafayette 148 Spring 2011 Runway Show at Neiman Marcus

I’d never heard of designer Edward Wilkerson or the line Lafayette 148 that he carries in the department store, but I couldn’t wait to see what was going to come down the runway. The first model out of the gate wore a huge pink floppy hat, and I smiled as I thought to myself, “This is going to be a fabulous show!”

In his collection, Wilkerson showed lots of separates that looked like the girls were going to a beach resort. Lightweight matte jersey blouses, doublefaced jackets, Viscose  crepe ludlow pants, floral cotton jackets, lightweight leather jackets, silks, ruched dresses, tunics, linen wide-leg pants and shorts and flowy dresses. As far as the accessories, they were to die for! The huge, floppy, striped hats, purses, shoes, sparkly clutches and poofy hair accessories were simply thrilling.

The crowd applauded model after model as they came out because the designs, hues and looks were so well put together that they made you want more. I always have problems putting separates together with accessories, but I took a lot of pictures and mental notes and will be adding belts and hats to my wardrobe this spring.

Edward Wilkerson did an amazing job with his spring collection, and I want to thank Neiman Marcus for the special invitation. I had a superbly stylish and delightful afternoon at the Lafayette 148 show!
