Lil B Says He’s Received Death Threats Over ‘I’m Gay’ Album Title

Just days after rapper Lil B announced at Coachella that he would title his next album I’m Gay, the Bay Area emcee is now revealing that some of his fans have turned on him and that he’s received numerous digital death threats.

In an interview with MTV News yesterday (April 21), Lil B gave examples of the threats he’s been receiving via his Twitter.

“People been hitting me up like, ‘I’m gonna bash your head in,’ ‘You f—-t,’ ‘I’m gonna kill you,’ ‘We hate f—–s,’ ” said Lil B.

As he further revealed, many of the verbal attacks and threats have come from those within his fan base.

“A lot of my supporters have turned on me. It’s been a few supporters that’s saying, ‘I’m not gonna rock with you anymore,’ ” said Lil B. “That’s fine because you know what? They didn’t love me for real anyway.”

Besides his angry fans, Lil B has also endured criticism from GLAAD,  the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, who earlier this week explained that they hoped Lil B’s album title is “not a gimmick and is really a sincere attempt to be an ally.”

As Lil B explains, he hopes that GLAAD will eventually see him as a supporter of the LGBT community.

“I got major love for the gay and lesbian community, and I just want to push less separation, and that’s why I’m doing it,” he said. “I hope GLAAD sees that I’m taking initial steps to break barriers.”

Despite his support and seeming infatuation with the LGBT community, Lil B insists that he himself is not a member.

“I’m very gay, but I love women. I’m not attracted to men in any way. I’ve never been attracted to a man in my life. But, yes, I am gay. I’m so happy,” he said. “I’m a gay, heterosexual male.”

Although the controversial emcee is facing harsh criticism and possible bodily harm, Lil B explains that he has no plans on changing his album title or silence his support of the LGBT community.

“I’m not gonna stop, and I’m not scared of anybody on earth,” he said of the Twitter backlash. “That’s why I [titled the album I’m Gay], and nobody gonna stop me.”

“One-hundred years later, people gonna thank me because people are going to be free,” added Lil B.
