Chris Brown was not the headlining act at the 2011 Springfest in Miami, but he was definitely the fan favorite. Hours before his performance, hundreds of teenage girls and female college students lined up outside of the Bicentennial Park with Chris Breezy on their minds. Several wore T-shirts with Chris Brown’s image on it and a few yelled, “We want Chris Brown,” during the brief intermissions between every act. Apparently, Brown’s problems of the past have not affected his female fan base.

Although there were several rumors floating around about Brown’s displeasure of not being the headlining act over Rick Ross, the R&B sensation hit the stage around 10 p.m. and sent the crowd into a frenzy as he performed “Transform Ya.”

He slowed things down by inviting a female fan onstage and giving her an impromptu lap dance as he sung “Wet The Bed.” Brown also performed his new single “She Ain’t You,” “Deuces,” and closed the show with the hip-hop hit “Look At Me Now.”

Trey Songz hit the stage after Brown and kept the majority female crowd pleased while singing “Love Faces,” “Can’t Be Friends,” and “Neighbors Know My Name.” Drake surprised the crowd by joining Trey Songz and rapping his verse on “Unusual.” The two took it back to 2009 as Drake rapped “Successful” from his smash mixtape, So Far Gone.

By 11:30 p.m., Rick Ross made his way to the stage and opened with the street anthem “9 Piece.” Ross was later joined by Maybach Music artists Wale and Meek Millz. Wale performed his verse from Wacka Flocka’s hit “No Hands,” and Meek Millz teamed up with Ross to rap “Tupac Back.”

Ross also went into brief versions of his hits “Hustlin,” “M.C. Hammer” and “Aston Martin Music” before attempting to close the show with “John.” But before Ross could begin, the sound cut off, and he left the stage. It was later reported that the police closed the show due to the venue’s midnight curfew.

Other notable acts at Springfest included Keri Hilson, Llyod, Miguel, Travis Porter and Big Sean. –amir shaw
