Oprah Wants O.J. Simpson to Admit Murdering His Ex-Wife, Ron Goldman

Oprah Winfrey recently ended her 25-year run hosting the iconic Oprah Winfrey Show, but the media mogul is far from done with her days of interviewing high-profile celebrities. As Winfrey recently revealed, her “dream” is to snag O.J. Simpson for a tell-all interview on her upcoming OWN chat show, Oprah’s Next Chapter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,  in an interview and Q-and-A with  Investigation Discovery’s Paula Zahn at NCTA’s annual cable show in Chicago, Winfrey explained that she believes Simpson murdered his late wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in 1994 and wants the former NFL-star to confess to the murders.

“I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me,” said Winfrey to voluble cheers from the crowd at Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center. “And I am going to make that happen people.”

“I don’t just want the interview,” she said. “I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson.”

Simpson was charged with the murders of his wife and Goldman, prompting a firestorm of media frenzy. The nation was divided along racial lines in regards to Simpson’s alleged role in the crime, with most whites believing he was guilty, while blacks overwhelmingly thought he was innocent. Simpson was eventually acquitted of the charges in 2005 but was ultimately convicted in a civil case that awarded the families of the victims $33.5 million.

Winfrey noted that throughout the years, she’s tried several times to get Simpson to confess to the murders, but to no avail. However, even if Winfrey does nab the interview, she may not be the first to garner a confession from Simpson.

Reportedly, Simpson confessed to former HarperCollins publisher, Judith Regan, for a FOX television special and proposed book, If I Did It, where Simpson hypothetically described the 1994 murders. However, public outrage over the proposed projects forced FOX and HarperCollins to cancel the plans and Regan was fired from HarperCollins later that year.

The chances seem slim, but if anyone can get Simpson to confess to the murders, it’s surely Winfrey. –nicholas robinson
