Atlanta business owner and NYC transplant, Douglas Hines, is representing Atlanta in this season (six) of HGTV’s acclaimed “Design Star” TV series. On Monday July 11th, at 9 p.m. the interior designer will makes his debut on the show.
As Doug Hines is the only designer to ever represent Atlanta in the six-season history of the show, we would invite you to meet and talk to him and get his take on what makes a design star and what the future holds. IKEA Atlanta will host a live screening for the premiere episode. The event to starts at 8:30pm and ends at 10pm
Having attended The High School Of Art and Design in Manhattan and after working in the most prestigious ad agencies in New York, he relocated to Atlanta to follow his childhood dream: his own Art Gallery. For two years, Gallery Domo featured original works by African American and Latin artists in a sleek modern setting of the Buckhead District of Atlanta. After many consultations on placement for the works purchased by clients, he realized hisskill and finesse for creating amazing spaces.
In 2002 Doug Hines formed Freshmaker Design LLC, and now specializes in cutting edge interior design for the restaurant and nightlife industry. He is also skilled in residential home interiors, both large and small.

This season of “Design Star” features a star-studded panel of guest judges, including designers Thom Filicia, Robert and Cortney Novogratz, Nate Berkus and Kathy Ireland, as well as the Food Network’s Paula Deen and Dina Manzo, event planner and former cast member of “Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
The series’ celebrated line-up of stars also includes HGTV’s own returning judges Genevieve Gorder, Candice Olson and Vern Yip, as well as a guest appearance on the panel by John Gidding. -jason mcphee
