Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing 2 Women and Exposing 9 Others to HIV

Johnson Aziga will likely die in jail. The 54-year-old Ontario, Canada, resident practiced inhumane negligence by having unprotected sex with 11 women without disclosing his HIV positive status. Two of the women who he was intimate with died, and five others were infected with HIV.

According to the Vancouver Sun, an Ontario judge ruled that Aziga would be jailed indefinitely because he has an extremely high libido and is a high risk to re-offend.

Aziga, who was diagnosed with the disease in 1996, pleaded to the courts for a lighter sentence and suggested that he would tattoo ‘HIV’ on his hand so that women knew he was infected. The judge disregarded his idea.

HIV/AIDS continues to be a silent killer in the black community. It’s important for couples who are in sexual relationships to dialogue about their sexual health status. Routine testing and using latex condoms every single time you in engage in a sexual act can reduce your risk of being infected by the deadly disease.–amir shaw
