Rapper and producer Swizz Beatz has been on a roll, as of late. Besides a successful home life with his wife, superstar singer Alicia Keys and their son, Egypt, the rising mogul was recently named the creative director for the Reebok Classic line. And now, Swizz (Kasseem Daoud Dean) has been appointed vice president of Creative Design and Global Marketing for the British car company Lotus.
A video on Lotus’s website highlights Swizz’s first day on the job; the venerable hip-hop producer, who name dropped the luxury sports car company in his latest Eve-assisted single “Everyday (Coolin’),” talks about his vision for his partnership with Lotus.
“The best thing to do is for things to happen organically, for things to happen naturally, for people to have a natural connection,” Swizz explained. “I feel like the key is to infiltrate the market in a cool way,” adding that, “When people get sports cars, they want to flash.”
Lotus also issued a press release, which outlined why Swizz was appointed to the high-ranking position.
“One, like Group Lotus, he means business. He’s a risk taker with considerable credentials including music producer, rapper, designer AND painter. Two, like our cars, he’s multi-award winning. This year he shared a Grammy Award with Jay-Z. And three, like Group Lotus he keeps good company. This man regularly works with the likes of Bono, Kanye West, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys.”
As Swizz stated at the end of the video, “The sky is not the limit, it’s just the view.” And clearly Swizz is just beginning to enjoy his skyline view. –nicholas robinson
