5 Best Reasons for Attending the Association of National Advertisers Multicultural Conference

Media entrepreneur Edwin Avent says he continues to attend the Association of National Advertisers Multicultural Marketing and Diversity Conference in South Beach every year because he wants to remain on the cutting edge and to discern where advertisers are appropriating their expenditures.

“What’s going on? Where are the advertisers? Where are advertisers spending money,” says Avent, chairman and CEO of the Soul of the South Network. “It is in on television? It is online? Is it in mobile devices? What are the new platforms? I’m always on the look out for that.”

Five best reasons include:

1. Network

2. Make corporate contacts

3. Brainstorm with fellow professionals

4. Meet industry leaders

5. Stay abreast of industry trends

Several attendees shared what they believe are the best reasons for attending the ANA Conference at the Fountainebleau Hotel and Resort in Miami Beach, Fla.

Talia Mark, the marketing manager for USA Swimming: “The three benefits, networking, the number of people that I’ve met through this conference has helped me put together different plans, it’s helped me bounce ideas off of people, make corporate contacts, brainstorming. When I came to the conference in the past, it was to try to figure [it] out. And to get the message out that and let them know that USA Swimming is in this space [multicultural].”

Edwin Avent: “One of the reasons why I always try to come to the ANA Multicultural Conference is that I always try to meet leaders in the industry when it comes to marketing and targeting people of color from the major corporations. Obviously having a business like mine, we find people that we can do events with. I come to stay up on the latest trends. What’s going on? And also like to come to network with my peers. Find out what’s going on, where my people are moving. So I like coming to the ANA Multicultural Conference because I’m always kept in the know about what’s going on.
