The saying that “people are just one phone call away” is as outdated as the VCR and Kim Kardashian’s acting career — or any career, for that matter. Today, folks are just one click away from one another via a plethora of pervasive platforms that has connected us in ways completely unfathomable just a decade-and-a-half ago.
At the Association of National Advertisers Multicultural Marketing and Diversity Conference in South Beach recently, a bevy of advertising and marketing experts shared what their favorite devices for entering into cyberspace and immersing themselves in professional and personal discourse:
Brooke Ellis [pictured left], diversity media manager, General Motors: “Number one, of course, is Facebook. And I use it mainly to connect with friends. And now, lately, people have been contacting me to get insight or to make that initial connection. So I’ve been using it for personal and professional reasons. And also, I’ve been able to connect with vendors and find out what their doing. The other one I like to use is LinkedIn. Originally, I used it as a career tool. But now I’m able to use it professionally and on other basis as well.
