Jenell Ross Thrives as President of Family-Owned Auto Dealerships

What is your management style?

I just think you have to let your team know that they are appreciated. I think we do a good job of that. I think that they’re families believe they are included as well. I think that if your family is happy then if you have to work a few extra hours then they understand that. I think that we reciprocate that to allow them to have family time and we also have activities to bring the family to the dealership and get them involved in other things that we are doing. At the end of the day it is about people and making them feel included. It’s also about giving them the tools to do their tasks; and if they don’t’ have it, then it’s my job to supply that to them and assist them along in the growth of their abilities.

What are your future plans in terms of growth and expansion?

In terms of where are going. It’s exciting to bring in Fiat as part of our portfolio. It’s exciting to see the resurgence of Buick in the products we have and what is coming; and the same thing on the GMC side. We’ve been in the construction phase with the remodeling of a couple of our facilities. So we’re trying to get back to business as usual. We’d definitely like to expand our group over the next several years.

And I’d like to add to the organization so that would give those who are a part of the organization the opportunity to move up and get engaged in other responsibilities. So the goal is to maintain but continue to grow so that we can represent more of what we have and to be involved in other brands as well.
