On Monday May 1, 2012, Lucky magazine hosted a fashion and beauty blog conference in Santa Monica,Calif. Brandon Holley, editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine, held a swanky blogger’s conference hashtagged #LuckyFabb at Annenberg Beach House with more than 150 fashionable attendees. And I have to tell you, I have never seen so many fashionable women in my life! There were ladies wearing the most trendy styles for springtime with sky-high wedge heels, flourescents, florals, fab purses, great hairdos, makeup trends, accessories and more! At the conference we had a few pre-parties, shopping safaris, vendor booths to browse, products to try and more!
Holley welcomed us with,”You ladies are what inspires us here at Lucky magazine.” The magazine which launched in 2000 is all about mixing new and the old and not everything in your wardrobe has to be super expensive. Especially in today’s economy, when women are regularly reading fashion blogs and getting ideas and advice online for style and fashion.
Fashion and beauty bloggers also wanted to learn how they could monetize from writing blog posts, how to work with major brands, how to stay true to your voice and more.We learned that you can make up to $20,000 a month from award programs, affiliates and commissions by simply having readers click and buy the items that we blog about. President of RewardStyle Amber Venz was one of the panelist who said that many bloggers are like personal shoppers via the blogosphere. The main goal for bloggers is to write about things that we love and get paid for it. Some of the top bloggers that attended have quit their full time jobs to solely blog.
The FTC laws do require bloggers to disclose when they are paid for posting, even if with products, perks,or cash. We also got a chance to hear from fashion designer Zac Posen, actresses Jessica Alba, Elizabeth Banks,(costume designer from “Mad Men”), Janie Bryant, actress J.Brand founder of Jeff Rudes, Randi Zuckenberg (former V.P. at Facebook) and fellow bloggers who are at the top of their game and work with social media.
Following the panel discussions we headed to breakout sessions which were conducted in intimate settings for more questions from the attendees. It was a fun filled day of information so, please check out all the fun photos! Lucky magazine will head back to New York City for the 2013 conference, so look out for it.
