In 2009, Tony Alamo, founder of the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries in Arkansas was convicted ten counts of transporting young girls and boys across state lines for sexual activities and pornography. He was sentenced to the maximum punishment of 175 years in prison. Alamo was busted after members of his church sent complaints to the mayor’s office.
In 2010, Bishop Eddie Long, the leader of one of the nation’s largest black mega churches, and an outspoken supporter of Georgia’s gay marriage ban, was accused by three young men who claimed Long coerced them into sexual relationships. The cases were settled out of court.
