This passing Sunday, New York City celebrated change at the New York City Gay Pride March. The annual civil rights demonstration commemorates the Stonewall riots of 1969, which erupted after a police raid on a gay bar, the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street. NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and Senator Charles Schumer spent the day marching with gay rights supporters and activists.
