Coors Light is partnering with hip-hop pioneer Ice Cube and legendary DJ Drama for the Coors Light Search for the Coldest rapper, a national talent search for the best MC in the country. On Thursday, June 29, the search stopped at Atlanta’s Club Reign, where female rapper Lotus Lane battled JR the Star. Lotus Lane got more love from her new Atlanta fans and moved onto the final.
The battle consisted of four rounds. The two rounds each rapper did a freestyle over Meek Mill and Drake’s “Amen” and also Cash Out’s “Cashing Out.” Lotus Lane got the crowd hyped over her remix of “Amen,” however, Atlanta native JR the Star took back all her momentum during his remix of “Cashing Out.”
The third round had both MC’s do an a cappella hot 16 freestyle, which was a draw to be fair, as each MC came up with clever rhymes while boasting how they’re on their way to stardom.
For the final round, Ice Cube and DJ Drama asked the MC’s to perform their own original song. This was where female MC Lotus Lane distinguished herself from her rival JR the Star. Her song was full of energy, swag and bars as the crowd was particularly receptive to Lotus Lane’s antics. This was ultimately enough for her to steal the title of Atlanta’s “Coldest” MC.
