Stacey Dash drew a firestorm of criticism this week when she publicly announced her endorsement for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Though the African American actress’ stance was a shocker to many, she’s not the only black celeb who is backing Romney. Exiled rapper Shyne has now come out as a Romney supporter as well.
During an interview with MTV News, Shyne said, “I’d vote for Romney,” before rapping Kanye West’s much-talked-about line from “To the World”: “Even though Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax, Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax.”
Despite his support of Romney, Shyne can’t actually vote for the Republican candidate since he was deported from the United States in 2009 after serving a nearly nine-year prison sentence following a conviction for his infamous 1999 club shooting with Diddy.
Since his deportation, Po has spent time in Belize, Paris and Jerusalem and he claims that President Barack Obama should allow him back into the country so that he can help quell the violence in inner-cities like Chicago.
“How can he be serious about stopping violence in inner cities and promoting education in inner cities and not using Shyne?” asked Po.
Despite Po’s border troubles, he says that he plans be return to the U.S. in just a few months, though he claims that President Obama maybe working against him.
“I should be in America in a couple of months. We working to try and get this visa,” he said. “Obama is playing games, he frontin’, he better do the right thing.”
Shyne also argues that President Obama should allow him back in the country because to fail to do so would be a jab at the Jewish community, which Shyne became a strong member of after his prison release.
“Jews is powerful, so if he don’t help the Jew out, he ain’t gonna be blessed,” he said. “And he ain’t doing the right thing. My voice is too powerful.”
And, though many feel that Shyne and other black stars should show unconditional support to President Obama because of his race, Shyne says that that kind of thinking is something he just doesn’t agree with.
“I don’t believe in all that, if you black you get a pass, nah if you corny, you corny,” he said.
