Jovan Belcher and athletes whose guns hurt their careersIt was 2006. Stephen Jackson was outside a strip club in Indianapolis when he was punched in the mouth and hit by a car. What his assaulters did not know was that Jackson packed a pistol that night. The former Pacers forward popped off five shots. Jackson’s incident was reported as self-defense, but it was another example of an athlete putting himself in a sticky situation where gun violence is the end result.
