Why We Love Her
Actress and reality TV star NeNe Leakes has been the most talked about housewife since “Real Housewives of Atlanta” debuted in 2008. Full disclosure: this writer has been a fan of Leakes since the late ‘90s. Since our first meeting, she’s always been open, candid and downright fun. Then a pregnant housewife looking forward to the birth of her second son, Brentt, Leakes had stars in her eyes. She knew she had the chutzpah for Hollywood. Now a red carpet habitué, it all seems so natural.
Why She Matters
Whether you call this 5-foot-10 powerhouse “the realest housewife” or “glam’ma,” one name she undoubtedly answers to is “Rich b—h.” The divorcée, (Gregg Leakes) now-fiancée (engaged to her former husband) has sat on the couch of just about all the relevant talk shows, hosted the Emmy Awards red carpet, and even landed two roles on prime time television, “Glee”(as Coach Roz Washington) and “The New Normal” (as Rocky), and so much more.
On Twitter, Leakes publicly questioned herself and her future on the reality show, her stepping-stone, though nontraditional, onto the Hollywood entertainment scene. She writes: ”When I watch the scenes wit [sic] these girls … I Ask Myself … Why I’m I [sic] still doin this it looks so childish.
