While the Supreme Court is busy making history in the world of LGBT rights, “Today” weekend anchor Jenna Wolfe was busy making history in the world of gay media yesterday, when she came out as a lesbian on national TV and revealed that she is expecting a baby with her girlfriend, NBC News correspondent Stephanie Gosk.

Wolfe made the brave admission during yesterday morning’s episode of “Today,” saying, “I’m actually pregnant. I’m quite pregnant, actually. My girlfriend, Stephanie Gosk, who actually works here at NBC, we’re expecting a baby girl in the end of August. We’re really excited.”

Wolfe explained that she’ll be blogging about her entire pregnancy experience, and in her first post for NBC, she explained that she and Gosk have been dating for three years and decided to have a baby in December.

“The more we talked about it, the better the idea seemed. And so in December, we embarked on Operation Baby,” wrote Wolfe. “And might I just add that despite the morning sickness, it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made. (But come back and talk to me when the kid is screaming her lungs out at all hours of the night.)”

In a coinciding piece for People, Wolfe and Gosk explain that they’re happy to be having a baby during a time of social change, where more and more LGBT individuals are standing and thriving in their truth.

“This is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to us,” said Wolfe. “But I don’t want to bring my daughter into a world where I’m not comfortable telling everyone who I am and who her mother is.”

“The beauty is that we live in a time where there’s no need for secrecy,” Gosk added. “This is a spectacular moment for us.”

And it’s a spectacular moment in history for news media and for the LGBT community. We congratulate Wolfe and Gosk on their pregnancy and we wish them the best with their family.

And now they’rll join the ranks of these other famous lesbians who have become moms as well. Check them out below. – nicholas robinson
