An offhand joke by President Obama has, overnight, made Kamala Harris arguably the most famous attorney general in America since Robert F. Kennedy. RFK’s appointment to the cabinet by his older brother, President John F. Kennedy, to head the Department of Justice over J. Edgar Hoover, the head of the FBI, created quite a national controversy at the time.
The skirmish that Obama created was of a different nature. The president, speaking at a fundraiser in Atherton, Calif., called California attorney general Harris, who is married, the “best-looking attorney general in the country.” This one statement turned a quiet two-day fundraising trip in a small national dust-up that refuses to go away. The president called and apologized for the imprudent remark and she remains supportive of him.
This only serves to add fuel to the fire after Obama’s wife, first lady Michelle Obama, also had a slip of the tongue in an interview in Vermont, describing herself as a “busy, single mother” before correcting herself.
But, while we’re on the subject, we might as well show you why the president made the comment in the first place. Despite his inappropriate comment, Obama is not a liar in this instance. Check out some of the hottest photos of California Attorney General Kamala Harris.
