Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage 2013: Snoop (Dogg) Lion and Bootsy Collins

It was an absolute, unadulterated party on the deck of the 2013 Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage as Snoop Dogg, aka Snoop Lion, lit the stage up — and lit up on stage, literally — with his classics “Gin and Juice,” “Beautiful,” “Drop it Like It’s Hot,” “What’s My Name?” and “Ain’t Nuthin but a G Thang.”

And, yes, the laid-back rapper lit up one of those funny cigars on stage and passed it around to his bandmates while ripping through an hour’s worth of the material that defined a generation. Snoop closed out his electrifying set when he invited hilarious comedian Guy Torre, Roland Martin and other cruisers onstage for an impromptu Soul Train line dance.

The two icons were the perfect entree for the beloved and purposefully over-the-top, eye-popping and hilarious ” ‘7os Players Ball” theme.
