Perpetually overshadowed by Dr. Dre, the debut album from the Compton-based producer/rapper helped introduce the kind of elastic basslines and smoothed-out production style that Dre would take to the mainstream a year later. An early 90s classic that established Quik and helped change hardcore hip-hop’s musical approach.
