Judy Garland — The star of the all-time classic “Wizard of Oz,” the 16-year-old never “recovered” from immediate and intense fame. She struggled the rest of her life with massive drug and alcohol addictions, attempting suicide on many occasions before dying at age 47. Her daughter, former superstar Liza Minelli, also suffered a life of addictions and mental problems, but she has persevered.
