And then there were three! Over the weeks, America just didn’t seem to “get Amber” according to adviser and Interscope Records exec, Jimmy Iovine. Amber Holcomb was an “Idol” underdog ever since she squeaked into the top 10. However, that prevented the judges from backing her throughout the competition, as they repeatedly compared her to legends such as Whitney Houston and judge Mariah Carey herself.
But this Thursday, operation make Amber happen came to an end. Second time hopeful Amber Holcomb was sent home. The outcome was hardly a surprise, given Amber’s past several showings in the bottom three. Nonetheless it was a disappointment to the young star as well as Mariah Carey, who shed a few tears.
