15 greatest Southern hip-hop albums of all time

2. OutKast ATLiens

OutKast ventured beyond the streets of ATL and discovered a sound that was indeed out this world for their sophomore album, ATLiens. With clever wordplay, Andre 3000 and Big Boi released their most lyrical album. The album was thought provoking and provided critical insight on ghetto life, but it dreamed of higher possibilities similar to A Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders album. Although overlooked by most outside of the South, ATLiens is one of the most important albums ever released in hip-hop.
