Understanding (1972) by Bobby Womack

Like Bill Withers, Bobby Womack has always been one of soul’s most under appreciated songwriters. Womack had penned hits for himself, the Rolling Stones and New Birth. The Cleveland native was also one of the soul’s most quietly consistent album-makers in the 1970s. This one is his best featuring two of the artists’ best compositions, “I Can Understand It” and “Woman’s Gotta Have It.”
