No. 8 The Young Mods’ Forgotten Story (1969) by The Impressions
The Impressions churned out some of the Sixties best soul music, fusing catchy pop hooks with the earthiness of down-home gospel. This is their most complete and ambitious album. Curtis Mayfield’s songwriting was beginning to hit its peak and songs like “Mighty Mighty (Spade & Whitey)” gave fans an idea where Mayfield’s solo career would go.
