Summer Jam 2013, commenced Sunday bringing out the biggest names in Hip-Hop and R&B. As previously reported the annual Hot 97 hosted event featured headliners 2 Chainz, Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar. Backstage at the event Draya Michele posed for pictures with several celebs including Trinidad James [pictured above] and Lil Kim. She also announced to fans that she was a “Ciroc Girl” or official ambassador of Diddy’s line of vodka.
Also on hand was Nicki Minaj, who joined 2 Chainz for a performance of “Luv Dem Strippers.” Minaj’s appearance came just days after she buried the hatchet with Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenburg. Minaj canceled her Summer Jam 2012 performance after Rosenburg made disparaging comments about her single “Starships.”
In typical Summer Jam fashion, there were a few surprise twists including an appearance from Mariah Carey who performed her new single “Beautiful” with Miguel. Rapper Papoose later “crashed” the stage and performed a set without permission from the radio station. Many have since cried foul however noting that the DJ already had Papoose’s music cued.
