NEW ORLEANS — McDonald’s has helped to create more black millionaires than any other corporation in the world. So it makes sense that the world’s leading food provider would celebrate 365 days of black excellence through the McDonald’s 365Black Awards.

The 10th annual awards programs run in conjunction with the annual Essence Music Festival during the Fourth of July weekend in the Crescent City that attracts some 500,000 urbanites to the tail end of southern Louisiana.

This year, Motown legend Gladys Knight, pioneering supermodel Beverly Johnson, education savant Dr. Steve Perry, Chicago White Sox executive VP Kenny Williams and Roland Parrish, the owner of a chain of McDonald’s restaurants, were among the honorees. Presenters and performers included host Taraji P. Henson (Think Like a Man), comedian Jonathan Slocumb, LeToya Luckett, Omari Hardwick and Angie Stone.

Take a look at the best photos from the McDonald’s 365Black Awards below.
