Hundreds of protesters gathered in New York City’s Union Square Park on Sunday, July 14 to voice their frustration, anger, sadness and outrage over the acquittal of George Zimmerman, who was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 17-year old Trayvon Martin. With activist Kevin Powell leading much of the proceedings, and youth from Columbia, NYU and George Washington University all helping to rally their peers and elders, it was a powerful reminder of the voice that this generation has and the need for those voices to unite in protest against what many have deemed an unjust verdict.
