AOL CEO Tim Armstrong fires Patch’s creative director during conference call with 1,000 employees

AOL CEO Tim Armstrong had some bad news to deliver. The company was faced with making a move that would affect 400 websites – Patch, their hyper-local news service arm. He was on a conference call with 1,000 employees when a picture of him was snapped and he lost his cool. Abel Lenz, Patch’s creative director, had a Kanye West vs. paparazzi moment. Armstrong said, “Abel, put that camera down right now. Abel, you’re fired. Out.”
