LAS VEGAS — There was a powerful and undeniable undercurrent of positive vibes that flowed through the entire Steve Harvey 2013 “Ford Neighborhood Awards” at the MGM Hotel and Casino, with a plethora of celebrities eagerly signing up to come to Vegas to present anonymous businesspeople, educators and activists with awards for their dignified excellence over the years.
Most awe-inspiring and dumbfounding is the case of the legendary Cass Tech High School in Detroit (above with Phylicia Rashad in the middle) which is annually putting its more prosperous and well-known suburban school counterparts to shame with its spectacular scholastic performance — and how it could possibly remain under the national radar despite what the school has accomplished perennially. Cass Tech won the award for Best High School.Positivity also characterized the zeal and flair for which the winners, nominees and presenters dedicated to cloaking themselves in some pretty impressive designer wear. It was an entertaining blue carpet and backstage presentation that nearly turned into a New York Fashion Week catwalk.
Don’t believe me. Just take a look at some of the best dressed celebrity presenters and nominees at the 2013 Steve Harvey Ford Neighborhood Awards.
