A show of ink-stained hands: How many of you are lefties? According to statistics, 10 percent of the population is part of a very proud and creative left-handed bunch, joining the likes of President Obama, Oprah, Bill Clinton, Albert Einstein, LeBron James and countless other notable southpaws throughout history. Lefties have struggled through a right-handed world that forced them to fight with binder rings, adjust to keyboards and the right handed mouse, and pretty much become ambidextrous due to the reality that they must work with their non-dominant hand often, if not every day. Being left-handed, I’ve often thought that only other left-handers notice, but more and more right-handed people notice and recognize how special we actually are. Besides as the saying goes, left handers are the only ones in their right minds. So do something to the left today to celebrate International Left-Handers Day.
