During the world premiere of Riddick at Westwood Village’s Regency theater, actor Vin Diesel shared with rolling out reporters a touching story about his dad.
“After he saw the movie last week, he said, ‘I don’t know if I am more happy about the film’s success or more proud that you made this film against all odds,’ ” said Diesel about his father perspective on the latest installment of Riddick.
Diesel, who revives the character Richard B. Riddick in the third installment of the film, goes on to say his father, Irving H. Vincent, taught theater in Brooklyn, N.Y., before he was born and “has always dedicated his life to theatrical arts.”
Dressed in a sharp gray suit and trademark sunglasses, Diesel adds, “It sums up my feelings. When you get that kind of validation from your parent, whose acknowledgement has fueled you in your career, it’s a very powerful moment.”
Riddick is in theaters Friday, Sept. 6, 2013. Check out the video interview.
