Ayvani Hope Perez, 14, is still missing after two men broke in her family home and demanded money and jewels. The mom hid Ayvani and her older brother, 15, in a closet as when she heard the noise at the back door and called police. The alleged robbers gained entry into the home and shot the family dog and began to search the house. They found the teens and abducted Ayvani.
The FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) have joined forces with the Clayton County Police Department in the massive search for the teen. Police presence is heavy and they are actively stopping cars to check them for the abducted teen.
The two men were described as wearing black clothing and armed with handguns, [They] “pried open a back door of the home in the Ellenwood [Ga.] area around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, demanding the items,” offered Clayton County police Officer Phong Nguyen in a statement to media. “The home invasion was apparently random as the family just moved into the house a month ago.”
Since the kidnapping and statewide search, it’s been reported that the men contacted the girls father, who flew in from El Paso, TX, demanding $10,000 ransom for her safe return.
A prayer vigil was held at Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Ga., south of Atlanta, for the teen with tearful friends and family pleading for her safe return. The mother was taken to a local hospital after being overcome with stress.
