Nowadays, celebrity-designed clothing lines are run-of-the-mill within the fashion industry. Some celebrity designer hopeful’s are met with such enthusiasm that they drop their current persona in order to become respected designers, much like celebrity turned designers Victoria Beckham or Lauren Conrad.
However, just because you’re the “it” girl or guy of the moment, does not mean that your clothing line will be on and popping! Over the last decade, we’ve seen a handful of other completely random celebrities try their luck in the design world and flop!
Take Nicki Minaj for example. As we reported earlier this week, the queen of self expression and personal style has partnered with Kmart to launch an urban clothing line. Some may say “dope move,” but she is Nicki Minaj; the epitome of sex appeal, Hip Hop and a self expressed label wh***. Not exactly the face or partnership that comes to mind for Kmart, one of America’s biggest family franchises.
