Oakland pop-rapper Kreayshawn gave birth to her first child, a healthy baby boy, on Sept. 20. She waited a day to make the big announcement, taking to Twitter last night to share the news with her followers and fans. For someone who shot to stardom overnight only to watch her career fizzle, she seems to have found a new purpose and is happy and focused on her child.
“Yee I had my a baby boy yesterday! He’s 7lbs and 3 ounces of cuteness and his name is Desmond,” she tweeted this weekend.
Kreayshawn previously revealed that she’d moved on from her former image and dropped a lot of the bad habits after she became pregnant and as she prepared for her child’s birth. The Bay Area native seemed to be fully embracing new motherhood, and she shared a few more tweets about watching her infant son.
“Taking cute lessons from a cute baby,” she tweeted. “How [sic] just realized a lot of things are dumb just now.”
The 23 year old became a YouTube sensation in 2011 when she released the video for her single “Gucci, Gucci.” The song immediately amassed over 1 million views and Kreay, born c, subsequently signed a contract with Columbia Records. Her debut album, Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay, wasn’t released until almost a year and a half later and tanked, failing to crack the Billboard Hot 100 albums chart.
Kreay also caught rap superstar Nicki Minaj‘s attention, who offered to help her get her hands on her first post-pregnancy drink, much to Kreay’s surprise and delight.
“I wanna drink Nicki Minaj’s moscato drink on my bday,” she added. “Where can I get?”
“But I’ll send u some ;)>” Nicki responded.
“Wait I’m literally like in a OMG state. I’m in the back of the car it’s my son’s first car ride and The Queen Nicki offers me Moscato!” Kreay tweeted.
