Smartphone sales cause camera companies to slash prices

Canon-5D-Mark-III-vs-Nikon-D800-which-one-is-better

As Apple and Samsung continue to upgrade their smartphone cameras; large  camera companies such as Nikon and Canon are having to cut prices just to increase sells.

As smartphones offer consumers  with high-end cameras, there is no longer any need to carry a phone and camera at the same time. Think about it, every corner you turn stands someone snapping a “selfie” or “group photo” with their smartphone, right?  Gone are the days of packing up a camera unless you are an aspiring or professional photographer.
The price cut comes a week after the release of the new iPhones 5C and 5S who like other newer smartphones come with 41-megapixel cameras, making them as good as, if not better than, the top of the line digital cameras. Both Canon and Nikon’s stocks have plummeted by more than half since Apple introduced its first iPhone back in 2007. Just to give you an idea of the cuts being made by Nikon, the company  introduced its J2 model a year ago at close to $600. It is now selling for just $240, which is 64 percent lower than its original market price.
