Atlanta – On Sept. 25, 2013, Youth Entrepreneurs Georgia, a high school business education program that nurtures entrepreneurial aspirations and skills, publicly launched as a nonprofit organization at an event in Atlanta and unveiled it’s YEGeorgia website and iPhone app.
Youth Entrepreneurs Georgia helps create productive members of society. For example, a study that followed-up on the program’s 38 initial graduates reflects that 97 percent of them obtained high school diplomas, and 80 percent went on to attend college, a trade school, or military, and 80 percent of those attending college either graduated, or are still pursuing their degree. This contrasts with the system-wide graduation rate of just 51 percent.
The event spotlighted program participants who had gone on to graduate from college or are pursuing a degree. Event hosts included Elizabeth Koch, YEGeorgia chair and president of the Fred and Mary Koch Foundation; Jim Hannan, president and CEO, Georgia-Pacific; and Curley Dossman, Jr., president, Georgia-Pacific Foundation.
JaKathryn Ross, executive director, YEGeorgia, presented the vision of the organization, which is expanding in Georgia.
