Long live Regina Hall! ‘Best Man’ actress melts our pages in stunning spread

RORH Final 24

FAMILY

An interesting dynamic on set — specifically now with the added importance of social media — is the increased presence of cameras (not the photographer’s). Everyone has one, so there is a constant cycle of selfie taking and picture sharing that has become ingrained in the photo shoot culture.

I, too, fell into the trap and began to share photos of my beautiful niece during some downtime. “Aww, she’s so cute,” Hall cooed, while scrolling through my massive “proud uncle” photo collection. The maternal energy exuded by Hall was unmistakable, and would later be confirmed.

“I want a family,” she would share. “I look forward to having kids one day, and having a great partnership.”

I asked if she thought about it often.

She nodded.

“I do, because I’d love to raise a son. I think I’d like to offer the world an amazing black man. But then again, I try my best not to think about it too much, because what can I do about it? It is something that’s important to me though, and something that I pray can be a part of my journey here,” she said.

As the dialogue on family continued, it was hard not to bring up her latest film, The Best Man Holiday, which opens in theaters Nov. 15. Family and forgiveness were both major themes in the film — both of which forced her to reflect on the familial bonds she holds close to her heart.

“The movie made me think about relationships where I want the other person to know that there is nothing but love,” she shared. “But more than anything, it made me want to take more time with my family while we’re all here, and not take for granted my own health, and my own life.”
